(UN 1090) จัดอยู่ในประเภทของเหลวไวไฟ คลาส 3 เป็นตัวทำละลายอินทรีย์ที่ไม่มีสี ระเหยง่าย และละลายได้ดีมาก

ในอุตสาหกรรมการแปรรูปแร่:

1. ใช้ในห้องปฏิบัติการวิเคราะห์เพื่อทำความสะอาดเครื่องแก้วในห้องปฏิบัติการและทำให้ตัวอย่างทดสอบแร่แห้งสำหรับการวิเคราะห์ทองคำและโลหะมีค่าด้วยการเผา

2. ใช้กำจัดไขมันและสารตกค้างจากตัวกรองและถ่านกัมมันต์ที่โหลดทองคำ

3. ใช้เจือจางสารทำให้เกิดฟองน้ำมัน เช่น น้ำมันสน เพื่อปรับปรุงประสิทธิภาพการกระจายตัวในสารละลายข้น
